Nitrogen is needed for lush and green foliage. Phosphorus will make the roots and stems strong and the potassium will protect the plant from diseases and fast brief snaps. It is also advisable to start composting for it is the best way to enrich the soils. Dig pits in your garden and put biodegradable trash in it such as spoiled fruits and vegetables, dried leaves, egg shells and other objects that cannot be recycled. By producing your own compost, you will have the complete control on what mixtures to do to achieve the best combination for the vegetable garden. Composting is best when started weeks before planting the vegetables.

One of the problems encountered by people is pests. It is very hard to keep pests from attacking the vegetables since there are no pesticides sprayed however, you can still prevent them from eating your vegetables by putting up boards and nets that can cover the whole garden. There are now available organic pesticides in the market but you have to identify your problem first. Crop rotation also helps in keeping the pests out.
